For Kevin Buckley, Mountains Beyond Mountains was more than a quick read. The book, which tells the story of Dr. Paul Farmer and his life’s work, was a jolt that broadened his worldview, and a potent message to remember the world’s poorest people as he refined his will and life insurance policy. Buckley found inspiration in PIH co-founder Thomas White, who donated generously to bring high-quality health care to some of the world’s poorest communities. So as Buckley began considering his own legacy, he dedicated a large portion of his resources to PIH just as White had done.
“When I was thinking of my legacy and what to do with my resources when I pass, I considered the troubling number of people who would be profoundly impacted by what I have to give,” he said. “I’ve experienced great joy in bequeathing a portion of my estate to support the incredible efforts of PIH.”
